THE 7 APPS
A fun and addictive fraction memory game. By playing the game Fraction Math Match, students come to appreciate various aspects of fraction representation including visual, geometric, numeric, and artistic.
This multi-purpose app helps students represent fractions using the first model students encounter in their fraction journey: the circular area model. The Fraction Circles App helps students visualize fraction magnitude and use the area representations to make sense of fraction operations.
Is a half larger than a third ? The answer is yes provided the implied whole or unit is the same for both fractions. But what if the units are different? The What’s the Unit? App helps students understand the necessity of knowing the unit when defining a fraction.
Visualizing fraction equivalence can be a challenge for students. To many, “multiplying up and down by 2” means doubling the fraction value. Using circular or bar models, the Can You See It? App helps students see with their eyes and mind that equivalent fractions are truly equal. A powerful springboard to the formal equivalence algorithm!
Understanding fractions as numbers, represented by points on a line, can be challenging for some students.
The See it on the Line! App enables students to manipulate and compare two or three fractions on the number line with ease and understanding.
Visualizing fraction multiplication in a realistic context empowers students to appreciate the meaning of fraction multiplication and understand the logic behind the algorithmic procedure. The Sweet Multiplication app offers multiplication situations thatare realistic, easy to understand, and fun to solve.
The Easy Decimals app does exactly what its title suggests, namely, it makes decimals easy to visualize and understand. Using models that make sense, students will grasp the meaning of decimal notation and will learn how to represent decimals using the basic square grid.

With the apps, complex topics became more accessible and simple for the students in my class. Also, the apps allowed me hold more in depth discussions with the students.
The learning experience was so lively that the students were actually disappointed when the lesson was over.
The visuality and dynamic aspect of the apps help the students understand the material faster. They also better and remember the material for a longer period of time.
